Child Development Specialist Job Description

The key role of the Child Development Specialist is to provide child and family services to enhance the development potential of the child and to increase the parenting skills. Assessing the development of the child, provides techniques, helps with a plan of education and sets health programs that enhance the ability of the child to develop properly, cognitively, socially and improve motor development skills are under the responsibility of the Child Development Specialist. He should often work with other agencies like human services programs and health prevention to facilitate agents care for the disabled children
Roles and Responsibilities
The main takes of the Child Development Specialist is to provide developmental assessments and to teach the parents some ways to enhance the development potential of the child. He should assist in the selection, dispersion and formulation of materials which are related to the child development. He must conduct workshops and groups to educate families in the child development area. It is the responsibility of the Child Development Specialist to determine the levels of the mental and physical development of the children by evaluating their answers. He should provide in service training to staff on the childcare programs. He should refer the parents and the child to other social service agencies. It is the role of the Child Development Specialist to determine the ability of the parent to understand and apply behavior and therapeutic modification techniques and their social and emotional needs to develop the teaching plan. He must be able to counsel individuals and families on the topics which are pertaining to the child parenting and development. He must provide services to families and their children in the environment determines appropriate by the intervention team.
Skills and Knowledge specification
Child Development Specialist must have good knowledge of childcare related techniques and skills. He must be patient, observant and must have good communications skills. He must be able to work cooperatively and efficaciously with groups.
