Social Service Casework Supervisor Job Description

The main responsibility of the Social Service Casework Supervisor is to direct, review and supervise the activities the work of a group of caseworkers. He must be able to support the staff in areas like child protection, adoption, substitute care and adult protection. He must analyses client requirements, interventions, reviews service objectives, recommends new actions, evaluate diagnose, resources arranged and assess client progress. He must be able to make final decisions under the general supervision of director of social services and approvals concerning to the casework treatment. Social Service Casework Supervisor must be an empathetic and sensitive individual. He should have effective stress coping skills. He should be persistent through adversity. He should be able to maintain and respect confidentiality. He must be able to self direct the work.
Tasks for Social Service Casework Supervisor
The main responsibility of the Social Service Casework Supervisor is to confer with and counseling social workers regarding casework and program problems. He must be able to participate in the implementation and development of administrative policy. He should counsel the clients in individually or in groups on planned or experimental basis. It is the responsibility of the Social Service Casework Supervisor to compare and review work performance or prodcutivity of subordinate employees with established standards. He should train new employees in fields like agency policy, department procedures and agency or government regulations. He should assist the staff members through individual and group conferences to examine case troubles and in make theory helping and diagnostic skills better. It is the role of the Social Service Casework Supervisor to coordinate activities between unit and service providers. He should propose recommendations for establishing and changes in programs, unit policies, procedures and goals. He must be able to provide in service training for the experienced social workers in the areas like new policies, procedures and regulations.
